THE real es­tate re­mains as re­silient as be­fore de­spite the short-term to medium-term set­backs given the cur­rent sit­u­a­tion nowa­days. In par­tic­u­lar, this ap­plies in the of­fice, re­tail and ho­tel sec­tors. This is ac­cord­ing to PRIME Philip­pines’ Head of Re­search and Ad­vi­sory, Con­nor Kel­man.

The ad­vi­sory took place dur­ing the first ex­clu­sive real es­tate we­bi­nar se­ries: ‘Real Es­tate on Air’ with the week’s episode ‘Philip­pine Real Es­tate Outlook & Sen­ti­ments amid Quar­an­tine’ on April 17, 2020 via We­bi­na­r­jam, an on­line we­bi­nar host­ing plat­form.

Aside from the lat­est up­dates on the Philip­pine real es­tate mar­ket amid the cur­rent cri­sis, Kel­man also dis­cussed some key lessons from the 2003 SARS out­break that real es­tate prac­ti­tion­ers to­day may learn from for the cur­rent cri­sis de­spite the dif­fer­ent cir­cum­stances from then and to­day. He also shared some insights from PRIME Philip­pines’ Geospa­tial In­vestor Con­fi­dence Map high­light­ing re­gions where lo­cal in­vestors are most bullish in­vest­ing in.

The es­teemed panel dis­cus­sants in­cluded real es­tate busi­ness lead­ers from Lu­zon, Visayas, and Min­danao – Delfin ‘Buds’ Wences­lao, CEO of D.M. Wences­lao and As­so­ciates and Man­ag­ing Direc­tor of Aseana Hold­ings; Jose ‘Joe’ Sober­ano III, Chair­man, Pres­i­dent and CEO of Cebu Land­mas­ters; Ri­cardo ‘Cary’ Lag­dameo, First Vice Pres­i­dent of Damosa Land; John Tria, Pres­i­dent of Davao City Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try; and, Jet Yu, CEO and Founder of PRIME Philip­pines. They dis­cussed their sen­ti­ments and outlook on the lo­cal prop­erty mar­ket amid the cri­sis.

By the end of the we­bi­nar, PRIME Philip­pines also launched the first real es­tate-fo­cused sur­vey re­port in the coun­try, the “2020-2021 Philip­pine Real Es­tate Busi­ness In­tel­li­gence Com­pendium”. The sur­vey re­port will be a three-vol­ume part. The first vol­ume high­lights the sen­ti­ments and insights ofn­early 500 land­lords, oc­cu­piers/ten­ants and in­vestors/de­vel­op­ers on the im­pact of COVID-19 in the over­all eco­nomic and real es­tate busi­ness in the Philip­pines. The real es­tate ad­vi­sory and con­sul­tancy firm also com­mits 10% of the net pro­ceeds from this com­pendium sub­scrip­tion ini­tia­tive to sup­port the pre­car­i­ous mis­sion of our front-lin­ers in bat­tling COVID-19 in the Philip­pines. The front-lin­ers shall re­ceive es­sen­tials such as per­sonal pro­tec­tive equip­ment, 70% ethyl al­co­hol and canned prod­ucts.
